RYAN JOHNSON PURCHASES KELLY DORAN SHARES
The Company remains Minnesota’s largest Woman-Owned Construction Business Under Behrendt Leadership
Bloomington, MN (April 30, 2021) Ryan Johnson, CFO at Doran Companies, took a major step in his ownership stake today by purchasing Kelly Doran’s remaining shares in the 14-year-old real estate enterprise. Johnson’s purchase in the company makes him a 49% stakeholder. Johnson will remain Chief Financial Officer (CFO) under the new ownership structure. Anne Behrendt continues as a majority shareholder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with a 51% stake.
Johnson, who joined Doran Companies in 2008, has been an integral part of the company’s rapid growth. In 2019 Johnson and Behrendt acquired majority shares of the company. Nearly two years since taking over as majority owners, the company continues its growth through, diversification of deal structures to include equity partners, and certification as one of Minnesota’s largest women-owned businesses.
“Finalizing the ownership structure creates an opportunity for us to continue the exciting growth we have been recognizing at Doran Companies,” said Behrendt. “The purchase acknowledges Ryan’s commitment and confidence in the future of Doran.”
Behrendt’s role as a majority stakeholder and CEO makes Doran one of the largest women-owned general contractors in the country.

Doran Companies’ scope of services remains the same under the new ownership structure. Development, architecture, construction, and special projects continue to be deployed under the Doran moniker. Property management is delivered through recently formed Whitecap Management.
