Tony Kuechle‘s real estate development company, one of the largest in Minnesota, considered expanding last year. The company looked at Nashville, Tampa and Des Moines.
In the end, Doran Cos. chose Denver for its first office outside its home base in the Minneapolis market. Kuechle, vice president of development at Doran, cited one overriding factor.
“Purely because of light rail is why we wanted to be there,” said Kuechle. “The real estate cycle will be longer, I think it will have fewer hiccups, and there’s just more runway out there to do longer development deals.”
He came to Nashville last week for an Urban Land Institute panel on the keys to successful commercial development at transit stations.
