NAIOP Minnesota award winners named at ceremony

The list of winners is in for this year’s National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) Minnesota Chapter Awards of Excellence. The ceremony was held on Jan. 26 to honor exceptional new office, industrial, mixed-use and special purpose developments throughout the region.

The winners were:

  • Office Multi-Tenant less than 50,000 sq. ft.: Voyager Bank Building, entered by HTG Architects
  • Office Multi-Tenant more than 50,000 sq. ft.: Town Center Office Plaza, entered by Carlson Real Estate Co.
  • Office Build to Suit (TIE): Wings Financial Branch Office, entered by Haugland Co.
  • Office Build to Suit (TIE): Western Bank Building, entered by Grubb & Ellis / Northco Real Estate Services and BDH & Young Space Design
  • Light Industrial Low Finish: Crosstown X Building, Crosstown North Business Center, entered by Duke Realty Corp.
  • Bulk Distribution: Lexington Preserve Phase I Aveda Distribution Center, entered by CSM Corp.
  • Light Industrial High Finish: Boston Scientific Research and Development Facility, entered by Kraus-Anderson Construction Co.
  • Repositioned / Renovated more than 50,000 sq. ft.: Yankee Place North Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Minnesota, entered by Architectural Alliance
  • Repositioned / Renovated less than 50,000 sq. ft.: Arts Alley, entered by Master Civil and Construction Engineering Inc.
  • Special Purpose: TRIA Orthopaedic Center, entered by United Properties
  • Single Story Office / Office Flex: LeCordon Bleu/Career Education Corporation, entered by United Properties
  • Mixed-Use: Silver Lake Village, entered by Muir-Doran Construction

Also at the ceremony, the NAIOP Community Enhancement committee presented $26,000 to Hope for the City. Some $20,000 of the contribution went directly to distribute relief donations to victims of Hurricane Katrina. NAIOP National matched that amount in a contribution to the Red Cross.

And, $2,500 was presented to Mike Hutson of Hearts and Hammers. In addition to the financial contribution, nearly 60 NAIOP members, co-workers and family members worked together in September to renovate the exterior of an inner-city Minneapolis home for an elderly woman in need.

Scholarships of $1,000 were presented to the University Challenge runners-up, St. Thomas University and St. Cloud State University; and a $2,000 scholarship was presented to the University of Northern Iowa, winner of the 2005 NAIOP University Challenge.
